| Dalit-Suvarna Reconciliation Meet: Doing away with Caste boundaries: 9 March, 2007
|
| This event has been initiated by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in collaboration with several NGOs.
Though many reformers have raised their voice against untouchability, it is sad that it still prevails in the rural areas of India.
Though numerous legislations do exist only a change of heart and mind can bring about the required transformation. Keeping this in view, enlightened citizens from all walks of life and from across the length and breath of India will come together.
This Conference will see a 7- point concrete action-plan which will take the message to rural India.
These Seven points are:
Temple entry for Dalits
Collective celebration including community feasts
Abolition of separate utensils for Dalits
Empowerment of women from economically weaker sections of society
Providing educational facilities especially to weaker sections of society
Providing spiritual and religious education to Dalit children, which they have been deprived of for hundreds of years
Equality and justice for one and all without any discrimination.
For the first time ever different sections of caste Hindus and Dalits will come together on the same platform to share their commitment towards building the ancient Indian concept of One World Family.
A special exhibition will also be on view to commemorate the occasion, depicting social and religious reforms that have taken place in India.
Date: 9th of March, 2007
Timing: 6 PM to 8 PM
Venue: Hamsadhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi
